This artwork is crafted entirely from ocean plastic waste collected on the shores of Tanegashima Island in Japan. Using fishing nets, plastic bottles, cans, and shoes, it pays tribute to the local people who clean these beaches each year. Though much of the plastic drifts in from other countries, the island's residents tirelessly work to protect their shores and marine life.
