"In Darkness" (2022)

In Darkness is the first work addressing the war in Ukraine. The starting point consists of photographs of the war’s victims, with particular focus on images that evoke a strong emotional response—parents with injured children. The work engages with the inability to turn away from the pain, despair, and helplessness conveyed in these images.
At its core, the piece reflects on the fear and vulnerability associated with harm coming to one’s own children, a perspective that deepens the emotional resonance of the subject matter. This work expresses the profound sorrow and sense of powerlessness caused by the human consequences of war, especially for children and their parents, while also creating a space for viewers to reflect on suffering that often remains unseen.
