"The Last Comfort" (2025)
Soft toys from bombed Ukrainian homes, light
115 x 90 cm, heigth 112 cm
In times of war, even the smallest teddy bear can become a giant source of comfort. This sculpture is made from soft toys collected by the Ukrainian charity Malyn Volonter, gathered from bombed and abandoned homes in the cities of Malyn, Morozivka, Mykolaiv, and Borodyanka. When illuminated, the sculpture casts a shadow of a small boy seeking solace in his teddy bear, which in the shadow world appears life-sized, like an adult protector. The work invites viewers to reflect on the deep emotional resilience of children and the importance of even the simplest sources of comfort in the darkest times.

The work has been exhibited at
Kymenlaakso Museum, Kotka, Finalnd (2025)
