From hard, everyday objects emerges a soft, tender moment – a reminder that food is more than nourishment; it is care, love, and connection. For most of us, access to food and sufficient nutrition is something we don’t have to worry about. This shadow sculpture reminds us that children around the world do not share the same opportunities to be fed or cared for. Access to food is even used as a weapon of war, creating artificial famine and suffering.
From hard, everyday objects emerges a soft, tender moment – a reminder that food is more than nourishment; it is care, love, and connection. During Lux Helsinki 2026 the shadow fell on the wall of Hietalahti Market Hall, inviting reflection on both the meaning of food and global inequality. The work is a wish and a prayer: that every child may be safe and nourished.
